Baglio Spanò, the former summer residence of the ancient Montalto Spanò family, is home to one of the most fascinating and authentic bed & breakfasts in this part of Sicily, and is an architectural expression of noble and peasant Sicily, a unique residential setting amidst numerous hectares of vineyards, about 700 metres from the sea and equidistant from Marsala and Mazara del Vallo, from which it is about 13 km away.
A farm road winds its way through the vineyards that lap the coast until it reaches the imposing tufa walls of the baglio (bagghiu, in Sicilian slang), a fortified farmhouse with a large courtyard, containing old warehouses, the manor house, stables and cellars, now skilfully restored and part of the bed & breakfast
The facility offers the comfort of a modern structure while expertly preserving the distinctive elements of the old Sicilian farmhouse. Breakfast is served in a splendid wine cellar that houses the ancient tools of the grape pressing process, with tufa arches or alternatively under umbrellas in the citrus grove, while on the first floor the Art Nouveau-style library overlooks the swimming pool and has the sea as a backdrop, only a few hundred metres away from the vineyards and citrus groves. Even the rooms are a synthesis of the retro elegance of a period residence and the Spartan simplicity of a country house, all with hand-decorated floors and authentic furniture from the early 20th century, and all with air conditioning.
Our Grillo Corte is ideal for couples or families with children. Access to the room is on the first floor through our refined lounge. Maximum capacity 3 people.

The courtyard outside recounts the sunny afternoons of the controra, when all is silent and you can hear the cicadas accompanying the afternoon hours with their chanting cries. The sun warms and colours the garden flowers, succulents and citrus trees. An ancient world, minimalist and essential as life used to be.

The swimming pool surrounded by trees makes relaxing in the silent, fragrant garden even more enjoyable and offers an excellent alternative to the nearby beaches or returning from the many cultural, maritime and gastronomic day trips.

Our B&B is located near the sea in Sicily. The beaches of the Petrosino coastline can all be easily reached within a few minutes' drive. Among the areas most popular with visitors are Lido Biscione and Capo Feto
the latter characterised by its fine white sand and crystal-clear sea.

Other destinations not to be missed are Mazara del Vallo and Marsala, which are important for the number of monuments in the historic centre.
